Hubert Debono, the General Manager of Embassy Hotel Valletta, has led a journey that spans over 25 years in the tourism industry.

From his start in hospitality management to his current position, Debono’s extensive experience has played a key role in shaping both his career and the success of The Embassy Hotel Valletta. Here he explains in his own words from where it started till today and the success of prevailing within the industry.

How it all started

I’ve had the honour of shaping the path of Embassy Hotel Valletta since its beginning. Equipped with hospitality management qualifications from ITS, I refined my expertise through diverse roles in Malta’s hospitality sector, including a significant period in London. Progressing from entry-level positions, I acquired invaluable experience in four hotels, including Malta’s largest one.

Resilience Amidst Challenges

Despite the challenges that have beset the tourism sector, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, Embassy Hotel Valletta has demonstrated remarkable resilience, as evidenced by the steady rise in occupancy rates. However, striking a balance between growth and sustainability remains a priority. Preserving Valletta’s rich heritage is integral to our guests’ unique experience, necessitating careful management of our expansion endeavours.

Harnessing Technology for Guest Satisfaction

Technology plays a crucial role in enhancing guest satisfaction at Embassy Hotel Valletta, and our partnership with Melita Business has been pivotal in streamlining our operations. One example is the integration of integrated IP boxes in our guest rooms, allowing guests to easily control various amenities like the TV, internet access, and room temperature from one intuitive interface.
